Kids Easel
An easel provides a great working surface when it comes to making a painting. The chances of you spilling something on it while you create it are reduced. Besides providing a vertical surface for you to work on, it also holds the painting canvas in place to ensure that no accidental smudges are made. But easels are not made for only professional painters. Kids too have every right to access them as well, and fill the shoes of an artist as they draw away whatever comes to their mind. It would be impractical getting your kid the kind of easel that is tailored to an adult. There are specially made ones that are designed to meet the needs of kids.

The material of choice used to make the kids easel vary from plastic, to wood to even metal. The plastic ones usually come with a washable board. It’s meant for the kids who would simply like to express themselves without saving their works. It’s good for a child that is only getting familiarized to the world of art. These are considered more as toys than painting accessories. It could come as a tripod design or with a four-leg stand. In the natural, these latter ones are double-sided which makes it possible for two kids to paint their art at the same time.
For bigger kids, those who would actually like painting something and keeping it, the wooden easels are better. These usually come with an adjustable height so that the easel can grow with your child. Since canvas is reserved for the professionals, kids usually use paper to do their paintings on. Some kids’ easels come with drying racks so that once the kids are done with the paintings, they can easily dry them. Kids use watercolors in doing their artwork as oil ones are a bit more complex for their age.
Considering the storage area in your kids’ easel is important. Their paintings will be of sentimental value and they need to be stored. If you have some dedicated storage space in your home then that is good. But when it’s missing, you need to ensure that you find a kid’s easel that gives you dedicated storage space. Most usually give some room though it may not suffice if your kid loves to paint every other day. The storage area should not be dedicated to the storage of the works of art alone. In most cases, kids will use crayons, markers, colored pencils, chalks to do their paintings. If possible, find a kids easel that will offer you room to store these.
There are a couple of other factors that need to be considered. Do you need an easel that can be moved? There are some designs that come with enabled portability. They usually have a pair of wheels to enable transportation of the easel to the desired location. Remember that the kind of kids’ easel will determine how much you are going to spend. Wooden easels retail at a much higher price than plastic easels.
