Easels are absolutely necessary when it comes to making a painting. Studio easels are the kinds that are referred to as large since they are mostly for industrial use. Some adopt a simplistic design, while others offer a more complex one. Usually the bases of these easels need to be strong, to hold the whole design in place and give you an immobile backbone when you are doing your painting. In most cases, tripod designs are uncommon, as their three leg stature does not offer absolute immobility. H-frame designs on the other hand are the preferred since their stationery aspect is virtually guaranteed. They also go for a more durable, heavier kind of material instead of beechwood, or aluminum. The idea is to make them heavy so that they can be immovable.
Most large artist easels have floor fixtures so that they can be completely stable. They are mostly characterized with longevity since the effects of time don’t naturally catch up with them that fast. In any case, they are meant to last, going from the very material used in their making, right to the kind of designs employed. They are meant for vigorous artists who do regular paintings and need a permanent place to do it from. Usually, the size of canvas is not considered a limitation because they are designed to hold the large sizes of canvas.
From the product specifications, there is one thing that large artist easels lack and that is the portability. These are not the kind of easels that you will want to drag from place to place because one, they are too heavy to do so and two, most have floor fixtures which make them immobile. Their size should reveal this aspect since those meant to be portable come in a smaller size.
Large artist easels have one thing in common, and that is their pricing. It’s well above average. In the norm, a good wooden easel should set you back at least $150. But with the larger varieties, especially those meant for industrial use go for at least $1000 on the average. From the figure, this is not the kind of easel that you would want to go for. But if you are serious about painting or have dedicated your life to it, then a large artist easel is meant for you.
