To jason, this song deals with his relationship with his family. For me and probably a lot more others, I like to think of it as a lost relationship with a guy and a girl. The lyrics are general on purpose and you can find whatever meaning you want. Honestly, does it matter what the 'true' meaning is? No. That's what makes art so wonderful. jason wade a lot of the time writes from experience about how he and his dad doesnt get along a lot. good enough, and trying are just a few examples of how it is. when u hear the part where he says, 'i was young but i was not nieve i watched helpless as u turend around 2 leave' hes talking about his dad leaving him. his parents got a divorce when he was 12 and he lived with him mom in portland seattle area. its sad but im glad that he hasnt let it ruin his life

i would have to say they are. watch the "lifehouse everything skit." it shows pefectly that it relates to Jesus and you can tell that a lot of their other songs are about God, though not all of them are.

its actually about how the lead singer got in2 a big fight with his dad. and saying that his dad never saw how much he actually cared about him. and also about how much it hurt for the lead singer 2 watch his dad storm off
