syd played on all his solo albums. acoustic rythym guitar. the chords were all his playing. he also did the lead guitar. Gilmour and Wright just overdubbed an arrangement over top as an embelishment....

-1 Wrong! Syd carried 98% guitar of the guitar duties (very well, i might add) on both of his solo albums, in addition to the tracks released as Opel. Of all the tracks, Gilmour played bass guitar, 12-string acoustic guitar ("Baby Lemonade"), bass, organ ("It is obvious", "Gigolo Aunt", "Wined and Dined"), drums ("Dominoes") + backing vocals. His main 1stLP with Waters (The pair produced 7 of 13 songs; The remainder were produced by Malcom Jones. Gilmour & Wright produced "Barrett."

With syd in the band the possibilities were truly open and limitless- one of the best musicians i ever heard. Not to mention maybe the best lyrics around

David Gilmore played guitar in much of Syd's solo work, but it was always Syd's music. Despite booting him from the band, they were all very supportive (musically) of Syd's post-Floyd efforts.

that's because syd had a flatmate named bob close who was a good jazz guitarist and was part of the first orig members of the band, which syd named pink floyd after 2 bluesmen called Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. they used to play regular blues numbers in the very early days up until bob close left. then syd took over.

I don't think he plays guitar on his solo albums, at least, not lead guitar... It's really a shame, he is my favorite guitarist of all time; he can really play.

Definitely one of my favorite riffs.

Hey, I find myself very drawn to this. Been listening to "Madcap Laughs" lately. Interesting but very bad actually. This is a great reminder that Syd could actually play. Very tight indeed.
