"Love is like a butterfly, you have to set it free.. if it comes back, it meant to be." I think this song describe perfectly with that quote. they were in a relationship, she needed a break to find out who she really was.

And also, metaphors come in many different forms, not just the common "A is B" structure.

There is usually not just one general meaning to a metaphor. Each person approaches it differently and gains a different image from it. Whether a metaphor makes sense or not is subjective. Some just click with people; others go right over the head.

this song makes me want to jack off and bust a huge load on my stomach, then gather it all up and eat it for dessert

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds or LSD to simplify it so it does have a certain meaning but yer tis a good song...

do lyrics really have to make sense? i mean look at a Beatle classic- "lucy in the sky with diamonds" makes no fuckin sense, but a great song. besides, it paints a great picture. wonderful imagery in these lyrics. not everything has to be deep and thoughtful. Sometimes things can be sweet and simple.

Celestial imagery= automatic win.
Nofeye (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
the lyrics to this song are the fucking worst. WAIT, before you tools say "hold on Nofeye, they're poetic and have such deep meaning that you obviously can't understand," I say this to you: there are no metaphors in this song. Metaphors make sense on a certain level, even when not taken literally or they wouldn't be recognized as a rhetorical style. so eat shit, this song is catchy but the lyrics are lame. |
