Shouting is not sarcasm. Making silly noises and doing really bad impersonations is not sarcasm.

"Hate to do it, but you're right. I don't think he's told one joke the entire time he's been hosting. He gets laughs from acting goofy and screaming at the camera. Cheap, really, but the audience seems to love it." I don't see any reason for a comment like this to be hidden. Getting a little carried away with the whole thumb thing, aren't we?

people are funny in different ways, craig ferguson is funny in a very saucy way, and yes he is funny to me, maybe not that funny to some people as people like different styles of comedians but that's his style, take it or leave it as simple as that. although what i find most entertaining about craig is when he talks with his guests.

nor has irony for that matter...

So which is it--he's funny, or he's not?
jamesjuh (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
no he's not supposed to be funny, he's supposed to be entertaining! he doesn't tell jokes. jokes you can tell to your friends, he entertains and it can be funny at times.

sarcasm has never been the strength of americans...

I see. So he's NOT supposed to be funny. Makes sense.

You know, the job of a talk show host isn't necessarily to provide you with chuckles. It's a TALK show, not a daily 10-minute standup comedy routine.
