I think that's the brillance of the work. Its so dated, that it exist only in a bubble of time. How many people can do that and still continue like EW&F have?

I totally agree with the comments of Russell(and also with rockjohnson80); it's exactly that... and that album sounds so much "1983"; I don't know why,but that's true...

FletchercatheyFaces and Raise were released in 80 and 81 respectively and yes although they were the 80's too they kept the sound of the previous albums largelly. Electric universe and powerlght saw a dramatic change in their sound which in my opinion just didnt suit them. Its no surprise that none of those later songs get played live to this day by the band.

Russell,I disagree, while the 80's wasn't nearly as successful as the 70's for EWF, the 80's were equally as creative in my view. "I AM" is a perfect example, although technicaly that was 1979. I agree, "Raise" was tight! "Powerlight" was good also. Maurice was the key to EWF.

Terrible horribly dated song. From the flop album "Electric universe" which bombed. EWF had been on a decline for several albums previous to this. The last good album was "Raise". This is the sort of naff song to crop up in some cheesy 80's brat pack film or something..the band is hardly recognisable to the one from afew yrs before. Unfortuantely the 80's just didnt suit EWF..a bit like Chic really..they struggled after disco died.

I don't why, but I love this song. Video, I could do without. Poor Maurice.

A lot of people would say that EWF changed their sound, but the were just keepping up with the times. This is truly a 1983 song due to the heavy bass and synthesizers used. It wasn't their best song, but it was for the times.

This video and the Electric Universe album was EWF's Jump-The-Couch Moment!!

Ahh, it's like they were high and watching Robocop when making this video.Still a magnificent song though. None can resist the call of Earth, Wind & Fire

I think that there was a different version of this video that I saw a few times. The other version of this had everyone wearing costumes like from Amercian Gladiators or The Running Man, all African-American actors, much more pop-future, and it was done up as more of an honor battle than future dystopia.
