I was 14 when this group was at their peak. Anybody got a video them playing 'circus'?. Them guys were Ken Hensley, Lee Kerslake, Gary Thain and anybody remember the drummer? Great retro!

I saw them in 1973 at Bradford town hall. I had broken off my top two front teeth in a motorbike accident that morning. Made for a memorable concert, but I wouldn't have missed it. I met Gary Thain that night. A lovely chap. A great bassist too.

Bassist here is most likely Paul Newton, although the band changed bass guitarists like gloves. Even John Wetton played with them in 1975-1976. Interesting that original synthesizer track for July Morning was done by Manfred Mann. Do you remember his 'Nightingales and Bombers'? Amazing album. |
