muay thai is a martial art developed in thailand which is an extensive use of almost any kind of strike that includes elbows, knees, shins, heels, feet, or fists. and kickboxing is just american boxing + some kicks. muay thai also has a lot fewer rules.so in my opinion muay thai > kickboxing

yours sounds like san shou m8, european and american kickboxing is ok bt i prefer the asian styles of kickboxing, more of an art!!
