well vinnie can actually play †hings of greater difficulty. dave is polished as in not sloppy, but its not like he's a show off. i find a lot of his rhythmic ideas really interesting and fresh. especially hs use of brushes, the sounds he brings out of skins/cymbals etc. I don't think weckl is better collaiuta though (personally i prefer weckl), because at this level of musicianship it pretty much comes down to an opinion

and for the record, the md polls are less than brillian in this respect. how is vinnie voted the best all around drummer but the only places he pops up is 5th out of 5 in FUSION (when thats kind of his gig and) #1 in the studio. then neil peart is last in progressive (which is his thing) and FIRST in rock. and the only cat that thomas lang pops up in is clinician. only explanation i can come up with is category by affiliation, but its inconsistent across the board.
