Um... I'm straight, and all for allowing gay marriage, but I don't quite get why gays would WANT to get married anyway. Or straight people for that matter. Why fall over yourself in an effort to be allowed to beg the state to "allow" you to marry (ie get a marriage "license"). The state has no BUSINESS poking its nose into marriage anyway. Gay marriage will only lead to gay divorce, which equals MORE state meddling in your lives. Take it from one who knows, you do NOT really want this.

This is a country that is founded on the concept separate but equal. I believe and many out their do that committed gay couples should have all the rights that married couples do. And from my understanding you are really close so why don't the interest groups that are organizing fight for those rights first while we think of a good word that will legally represent a gay union.

Homophobes do suck!!! but just so you know i voted yes on 8. Because i do believe that marriage is between one man and one woman. I have no problem with alternative lifestyles or the people who chose to live them, but changing the definition of a word to include them will only cause major legal problems.

I agreee...nasty tactic and confusing with NO/YES.Marriage is a basic civil right ...and eventually gays will have their rights. I just hope I'm alive when it happens.So sad the prop passed. I feel like I'm living in the middle ages.
