Behavioral cues, mostly. Animals in pain will do things to alleviate the pain, like avoid walking on an injured limb, or not eating with a sore mouth. Heavy pain will throw them off their instinctive behavior, too, like eating and sex. They'll also self-medicate.Insects, on the other hand, have a nociceptive reaction when a leg is broken, but then they'll continue to grind the break into the ground when they walk. Or they'll continue to eat or mate while their backside is being munched on.

That's really interesting that they don't feel pain. I wonder how you would be able to test that though, because they obviously still have a nervous system.

We are thr Borg. Your moths will be assimilated. Mothballs are futile.

Reminds me of the time when me and some buddies were messing around with an electronic muscle stimulator. We would hook it up to each others arms and the person it was hooked up to couldn't keep their arm from bending.

I'm sure the bugs are treated just fine.Insects have the fortunate advantage of being practically robotic in and of themselves. The works of Dr. Temple Grandin show that they're not capable of feeling pain, let alone suffering. Being hooked up to wires and tapped by a weak charge is an inconvenience to the bugs and nothing more.

Wow, that is weird.

I'm not really sure how you define "complex" but the mere fact that we can control these animals is unsettling. It seems very inhumane to me, and to be honest I'm more worried about the treatment of the animals than being controlled by a computer. Sometimes we go too far because we forget to respect the lives of other organisms.

poor moth, impressive though.

Check out google about AIDS-immune people; you will be surprized...

A construct? You're saying it was deliberately and artificially created?Lawl, you act as though this is all I do with my time. You want to be the center of my world, don't you? You haven't got an argument. You haven't given a substantial answer yet. You just veer off somewhere else, tossing word salad in the hopes that we might be dazzled enough to forget that you aren't really saying anything.Which resistant people? If that were true, the cure would lie within them. Too bad it isn't true.
