A Minnesota Planetarium Video- Natural Radio: When solar flares hit the Earth's magnetic field, the skies at both poles can light up with auroras. The particles also create very low frequency electromagnetic waves, a type of natural radio that can be picked up around the globe. Every year sound recordist Steve McGreevy heads north where the reception is best and points his receiver at the sky. It sounds like a rainy day in a rainforest full of birds and other amphibians and other animals... Perhaps animals have been translating or hearing these sounds and we didn't know? Awesome video, thank you :) happy new year.

Thank you for the info :)I think the sounds of the lights are as magnificent as the songs of whales.
peavyt15 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)

Are these ultrasonic sounds that animals can hear? What a fascinating subject, the music of the lights :)

I believe: Particles and plasma moving at a high speed create radio waves in their high speed motion, and he's using an amplifier to be able to tune into them, amplify them, and allow the human ear to enjoy. That is, if I understood it correctly...

FantasticIt makes me think of a brain cell watching, if a brain cell could watch, the electric firing of synapses enjoying the sight, not understanding that there is a thought there, and yet maybe the cell might get an inkling
